Restaurant

A day of discoveries. I discovered that our bathroom didn't have a shaver socket and I might have to grow a beard for the first time this cruise! Happily Guest Services sold me a suitable adaptor for £5 which I'll get back if I remember to return it at the end of the cruise. I also discovered that the laptop charger doesn't fit as the electrical sockets are too close to the desk surface - it'll take longer to charge through the USB sockets. Also discovered that my sandals are ceasing to be wearable - the Velcro strap is coming unstuck.

We had breakfast in the Bloomsbury Restaurant on Deck 4 - oddly we have to go up to Deck 5 to be able to walk through to the stairwell to descend to Deck 4. We had a table to ourselves, there seems to be plenty of space around on the ship, due to reduced occupancy? We were offered champagne at breakfast - perhaps they're trying to get rid of it.

Chocolates

Had a black coffee at the Bookmark Cafe - will try some of the chocolates one evening. Baggo at 10:30 proved to be tossing bean bags.

The beef enchiladas at lunchtime were a bit more than I needed. We went to an entertaining and thoughtful talk by Michael Kerry White who got into acting accidentally, good anecdotes. Had Emperor Breakfast tea in the Oriental Tea Room, nicely laid out like many places on the Bolette (said Bo-Let-Te). Stylish. Even got a refill! But the sedate atmosphere was impaired by a couple of old dears talking loudly about not very much.

Menu

There were only 4 of us at table 79 in the first sitting in the evening. All our other dining companions will beat us to eating in Colours and Tastes - Joan and Ted were there tonight, and Susan and James (not Steve as for some reason I had in my head) were going tomorrow night. I had a pallid looking tofu risotto dish which needed the green vegetables we were unexpectedly offered to give it some colour. Virginia and I booked up Colours and Tastes afterwards.

9pm and the theatre company were at it in the Neptune Lounge, as energetically as ever. Such verve. Personally I would settled for "Don't Cry for me Argentina" being sung all in the original language rather than giving us it partly in Spanish. Watchable but I found the selection of songs random rather than themed. And then clocks went forward this evening. You have to turn the tap in our bathroom fully over to stop the flow.
