Day started well with no power! Not immediately obvious as it was already light - at least it came back on after we had a cold breakfast. We may be further north than Cambridge, looking out towards midnight it seemed to be still light in the sky as if we were close to the Arctic Circle.
We were later than planned to Beacon Lough Baptist Church as we couldn't lock the front door! The owner's wife could do it, but we continued to be unable to do it later so have decided to exit through the French doors! A warm welcome at the Church, we reduced their average age a little, Lough is said "luff". Very friendly, people seemed to mostly sit down during the collection hymn, a deacon preached on Paul's visit to Athens.
After a cuppa and a biscuit and held up by people wanting to say hello to us, we went to Birkheads Secret Gardens. A haven of flowers and peace in what was a mining valley. Virginia got some slate coasters, we had toasties for lunch.
In the evening we went to the Toby Carvery Washington and ate well enough at this crowded joint. It started to rain while we were inside. The cottage continues to baffle us - the kitchen bin has a mind of its own, getting hot water for the shower takes a time.
