A compulsory visit to Tuol Sleng and Cheoung Ek. Not a pleasant visit but a necessary one. The barbarism which so damaged Cambodia should not be forgotten.
On the way back I was shown the
Russian Market
which was a treasure trove of different stalls in an
enclosed area. You could buy clothes and Buddhist
statues and jewellery and watches and bike tyres
and bike engines and food and casters and pottery.
In the evening did a
sunset river cruise
on the Mekong river. The price of $17 included transport there
and a drink and fruit on the boat. Saw the ‘rainbow bridge’
which was lit up in the colours of the Cambodian
flag. Happily it didn’t tip down with rain as it might
have done. Not as pretty as the Melaka river cruise
but Phnom Penh is definitely more beautiful by night.
