Machu Picchu has been firmly on my bucket list for ages, and Audley Travel have done splendid custom trips for me, so it was natural for me to book a Peru trip with them.

Preparations included seeing a MASTA travel clinic, getting cash in Peruvian Sol and American dollars (cash was only really useful for tips and buying souvenirs), adding entries to Apple’s Reminders (more useful with setting the timezone for entries), and packing toilet paper after what I read online. Strangely the toilet paper was only needed in the Madrid airport not in Peru for me. I tried to remember not to flush toilet paper in Peru itself.

Audley Travel sent me a nice box of goodies to prepare for the trip. I worried before the trip about jet fuel and international events but for this trip that wasn’t an issue in practice.
