After a lazy start we visited the gardens on the Lavender Farm estate - very pretty, well watered (sprinklers much in action this week) with a scenic red telephone box and pergola and pond. Few people seemed to be going round so less sense when sitting in our cottage lounge of being in a goldfish bowl with people googling you. We both had brie and cranberry croissants at the well patronised cafe, nicely laid out with a rustic feel.
We visited the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection in the afternoon, two hangers full of old bits of airplanes and enthusiasts lovingly looking after them. A real history.
Dined at the Poacher just up the road - friendly, Southern Television memorabilia on the walls where we were sitting at table 18, plates full but took a long time to come. It may have been the pie I had which took the time.
It was quite dark when we got back, and wished we had a torch to help us open the key safe to get back into Lavender Lea.
