The buffet area on the 7th floor has great views both of Mount Fuji and the lake with evocative wisps of mist swirling over it in the morning dawn. I resisted the stir fried nookles but at least they had congee. Some diners came with their own buffet trolleys. I sat the lake side the Mount Fuji side was more popular.
Found the right queue eventually at Kawaguchi Station for the Blue Sightseeing Bus and got off at the right stop for the Narusawa Ice Cave. Very low ceilings in places, I had to squirm along like a crab. Grateful I had a helmet on. It made me think of the Weirdstone of Brisingamen by Alan Garner. There was ice down there but not icicle stalactites as I hoping.
A brisk walk saw me to the Fugatsu Wind Cave which was more of the same (this time I missed they did provide helmets silly me). These caves are lava tubes from an old eruption, and were used as a natural refrigerator to store food.
