We started our tourist campaign with a visit to Birdworld which had plenty of noisy birds and also plenty of models of dinosaurs around. The dinosaurs all asked not to be climbed on - Birdworld had a lot for children, and felt more for them. We saw penguins being fed (while a heron tried to muscle in) and various avians in cages whose natural habitat has suffered from human expansion. A lot of refurbishment going on there.
More interesting for me was where we went next. Rural Life Museum is one of those places I love to visit. Finding places time has lost. Prefab houses, old stores, old vehicles you only see in old films, puffing engines, arrays of obsolete tools, a lost way of life. Like Birdworld the museum wasn’t too busy at all, making it a pleasant wander around. We both had bacon brie and cranberry sandwiches to keep us going!
We had supper at the very nearby Ball and Wicket which we could walk to. Deja vu as it was a Chef and Brewer place like The Bridge we ate at last Friday. They gave us our mains before the starter! Always expect the unexpected.
