We went to Porthmadog and were impressed! Impressed by the size of the Tesco superstore for a place smaller than the village we live in. Impressed by the state of the roads in Gwynedd compared with the potholes in England. Impressed by the decent lodge we're staying in! (Also impressed by the bumpy steep track up to the lodge but you have to take the rough with the smooth.)

I did relearn some Welsh on this trip to Wales, araf for slow as one wound around twisty roads twisting around the hills and lakes in North Wales, plant for children, hen for old. But I will forget that Welsh soon enough. decent roads, and a very decent lodge for us to stay in!

Jasper got dropped off at his preferred pet place, the Cozy Pets Boutique Hotel in the morning, and we set off after lunch for the 4 hours plus journey to Porthmadog (which I knew as Port Madoc how things change). Slightly fraught round Birmingham where we and Google Maps may have had a falling out, got too close to the side of a narrow bridge at one point, but we reached Morfa Lodge safely, and the owner showed us the splended place, stressing the need to keep the key on you or face being locked out!

Morfa Lodge is nicely secluded, up a steep hidden track, but not that far from the centre of Porthmadog itself which has plenty of shops and restaurants including Tescos which we raided for our usual Chinese meal for 2 on our first night somewhere!
